Health Tech Event Roundup: HIMSS 2022

After the pandemic caused the unfortunate cancellation of HIMMS 2020 and heavily impacted HIMSS 2021, the 2022 event promised to be two of the most anticipated in the medical calendar.

HIMSS (Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society) is a global advisor, thought leader and member-based society committed to reforming the global health ecosystem through the power of information and technology. HIMSS has served the global health community for more than 60 years, with operations focused across North America, Europe, the United Kingdom, the Middle East and Asia-Pacific.

The in-person HIMSS 2022 event took place in Orlando in March, with HIMSS22 Digital serving as a virtualised complement for those wishing to attend online. Nearly 30,000 attendees were recorded across in-person and digital venues, enjoying an array of educational, networking and specialty programming.

A broad scope of discussion

HIMSS 2022 featured a wide range of topics including Technology, Business, Data and Information, Policy and Organisational Governance.

In the Business sessions, delegates and participants could home in on finance or marketing and communications, or learn more about streamlining supply chains with sessions like ‘The Power of Convergence: Clinical, IT & Supply Chain’ or ‘Demand-Matching: Collaborative Care Delivery’. There was also a conference strand dedicated to Care, featuring several interesting sessions dedicated to topics like the Pandemic Response and Telehealth.

Spotlight on Diagnostics

HIMSS 2022 also offered some interested perspectives on developments in diagnostics. The event featured a large number of exhibits and presentations on the merits of AI assisted diagnostics, including sessions around accelerating digital transformation using AI assisted diagnostic.

One session, led by Carlos Pedrotti, General Manager of the Telemedicine Center at the Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein, and Eduardo Cordiol, Corporate Director of Hapvida Health Systems, explored how AI can be used to monitor quality of service and diagnostics in telemedicine visits. This session presented prescription and diagnostic data from more than 300K telehealth visits, demonstrating that easy-to-implement, AI-based algorithms can be crucial to providing constructive individual feedback and real-time quality monitoring and improvement.

How we can help

Citadel Health is at the forefront of development in connected healthcare and digital innovations in health. We have predicted that AI, integrated diagnostics, and connected radiology will be huge trends in the years following the pandemic, as healthcare professionals turn to the technology that will allow them to clear the enormous backlog without compromising patient care.

We are currently working with NHS Wales on a £15.9m project to futureproof their pathology services. This is an incredibly exciting project and one that will allow us to transform pathology services across Wales, resulting in better, faster and more targeted treatment for the nation’s patients.

As the founder of a global advisory board bringing together health-tech leaders, clinicians and academics, Citadel Health is committed to its mission to connect healthcare diagnostics for clinicians and improve patient care globally.  To find out more about the advisory board click here or contact us today.
